What to tell State Program Clients

The following information/instructions should be given to the client at the end of the interview:

  • Their application is being sent to the state for processing and the State will make the final decision on their eligibility for the programs for which they are applying.
  • The State has the following deadlines for processing applications: If they want to inquire about their application’s status, instruct them to call 1-877-543-7669 or 2-1-1, Option 2, and select the program for which they applied. If the State has no record of the application or they need help, have them call the call center.
    • Medicaid for Pregnant Women and CHIP Perinatal – 15 days
    • Medicaid and CHIP – 45 days
  • If they receive any letters requesting additional information from the State, inform them that there are deadlines for responding to the letters and failure to respond in a timely manner could result in their application being denied or delayed.
